Job description

The Senior Operations Manager will oversee the Support Services Team, including the Mobile Support Team (MST), as well as direct reports such as the QA Manager and Performance and Contract Support Manager for the Elizabeth Line. The role aims to drive operational excellence across all managed stations, manage fabric and appearance improvement tasks in complex, high-traffic environments to enhance MSS (Mystery Shopper Survey) scores, and ensure all activities comply with railway safety regulations and standards. A key responsibility is to drive performance, promote safe practices, and improve the environment for passengers and staff.

  • Lead the Support Services Team to deliver high-quality support services across Elizabeth Line stations, especially in hard-to-access or below-standard areas.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Extensive experience in facilities or station operations management, preferably within a rail or transport environment.
  • Strong understanding of railway safety regulations and operational compliance.
  • Proven leadership of multi-skilled teams in dynamic, high-footfall environments.
  • Experience in performance management, data reporting, and service innovation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Practical knowledge in trades such as carpentry, glazing, painting, or maintenance.
  • Experience working on or near rail infrastructure; trackside awareness certification is desirable.
Person Specification
  • Customer-focused, flexible, and trustworthy.
Attributes
  • PTS (Personal Track Safety) Certification or equivalent.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety certification.
  • Facilities or Maintenance Management qualifications.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
