Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a senior (band 6) Occupational Therapist to join one of our in-patient therapy teams here at Arrowe Park Hospital.

The team has a shared therapy office and works with the care of the elderly consultants and nursing teams for the benefit of the patients. The team supports activities such as bingo, discos and mocktail events to prevent deconditioning.

The therapy service supports Wirral residents in the right place, at the right time, utilising the community based Home First service and other rehabilitation services available.

There are opportunities to engage in training and development, innovative practice and service development. The service also supports student training and apprenticeships enabling you to contribute to the future of the profession.

You will have professional support for your CPD from Band 7 Therapy Clinical Leads and support from Senior Occupational Therapists from other specialities as required.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses and treats own caseload of patients / clients in a speciality and maintains associated records.
  • Has a responsibility for Training & Development of occupational therapy staff, students and other staff groups in this speciality. Supervise less experienced occupational therapists, assistants, apprentices and students.
  • Participates as a member of the therapy team and the MDT within a specified clinical area.
  • Has a responsibility re-own CPD and other developmental activities.
  • Involvement in identifying and carrying out departmental audit, research or service development activity.
  • Participates in providing 7-day services and extended working day, as required by the service. (Some of our services work on extended hours rotas working between 8 am and 8 pm.)
