Job summary

Hereford County Hospital in Hereford is seeking a Specialist Band 6 occupational therapist to join the inpatient stroke team on a 12-month fixed-term post, covering maternity leave.

The role involves assessing and treating stroke patients across hyperacute to inpatient rehabilitation stages, working with the MDT, and ensuring timely assessments in a fast-paced service open seven days.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration or eligible to practice as an occupational therapist
• Postgraduate specialist qualification or substantial postgraduate experience
• NHS inpatient/acute/community service experience may be relevant

Job description

This 12-month fixed-term post covers maternity leave for a Specialist Band 6 occupational therapist in the inpatient stroke team at Hereford County Hospital, run by Wye Valley NHS Trust. The role assesses and treats stroke patients alongside multidisciplinary colleagues, across hyperacute and acute care through to inpatient rehabilitation before discharge. The service runs seven days a week, including bank holidays, at a fast pace and links with the community stroke team. Fit depends on HCPC registration and a postgraduate specialist qualification or significant postgraduate experience.
