Job description
Senior Nurse – Hospice Care @ Home Service

This role is part of Marie Curie’s Hospice Care @ Home service in the North‑West. The Senior Nurse is a home‑based leader responsible for delivering high‑quality palliative care and developing a skilled, compassionate team.

Hours: Monday – Friday with occasional 10pm‑1am night observations.

Contract: Permanent Full‑time with Part‑time available.

Location: Home working with some required travel across the North‑West for training and overnight observations.

Salary: £38,682 – £46,580 per annum (pro rata) plus a full range of Marie Curie benefits.

Key highlights
  • Leads on both formal and informal teaching, supporting the ongoing development of nurses, healthcare assistants, and volunteers.
  • Conducts ad‑hoc night observations of healthcare assistants to monitor standards and identify training needs.
  • Oversees the induction, supervision, and continual learning of team members, creating bespoke development plans.
  • Acts as a role model for palliative care, promoting best practice and reflective learning.
  • Coordinates care delivery, manages resources, and ensures effective communication across the multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintains flexibility to meet service needs, including occasional night work and travel within the service area.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse on the NMC Register.
  • Relevant Nursing Degree.
  • Mentorship / Teaching qualification.
  • Experience caring for patients with palliative care needs (hospice/hospital/community).
  • Understanding of steps involved in audit and research.
  • Experience of formal and informal teaching.
  • Understanding of the benefits of working with a patient‑centred philosophy of multidisciplinary team working.
  • Computer literate.
  • Driving licence and ability to travel across the service area.
