A leading educational institution in Luton seeks a Senior Network & Telecoms Engineer. You will assist in the design and support of enterprise-level network infrastructure, while ensuring efficient telephony services across multiple campuses. Essential qualifications include a degree in computer networking or equivalent experience, as well as CCNA certification. The role demands strong troubleshooting skills and customer service focus.
With your real-world work experience you will assist with design, implementation, and support of enterprise-level network and telecoms infrastructure. Technologies and systems you will work with include: VoIP telephony systems (Mitel, Unify, Cisco), Mobile Device Management (MDM), unified communications, LAN/WAN hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper-Mist, HP, firewall and load balancing, switching, routing, internet access, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, multicast, VPNs, MPLS, HSRP, VRRP, 802.11 wireless technologies, 802.1x authentication, virtualisation platforms (Hyper‑V, VMware, KVM), storage networking (iSCSI, FCoE), and monitoring tools such as Nagios, SolarWinds, and Wireshark.
Essential qualifications include a degree in computer networking, information sciences, or equivalent experience, ITIL v4, and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
Desirable qualifications include PRINCE2 Foundation/Practitioner and Unify professional certifications.
You should have proven experience, virtual and hands‑on in network/telecom operations, routing/switching, VoIP, and MDM, experience with mobile applications and a wide range of devices, familiarity with virtualisation, storage networking, and structured cabling, and experience managing enterprise wireless networks across multiple sites. Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, the ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical users, high attention to detail and documentation, the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high‑pressure environment, and a strong customer service ethos and stakeholder engagement are essential.

While the post will not hold direct responsibility for the Network & Telecoms Manager's duties, it will play a critical role in supporting them through infrastructure projects, service delivery, and vendor management.
