Job summary

Summer-Browning Associates Ltd are currently supporting our Central Government client in Glasgow, seeking a Senior Network Engineer on an initial 6 month+ contract. The role involves designing, implementing and supporting secure networks across on-prem, cloud and hybrid environments with a focus on automation and IaC.

The ideal candidate will have strong enterprise networking experience, expertise in TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF/BGP, Ansible, Python/PowerShell, and familiarity with ITSM/change-controlled

Qualifications

• Proven track record as a senior network engineer in large enterprise setups.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, IPv4/IPv6, NAT, QoS and VLSM.
• Hands-on routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs and load balancers.
• Experience with Ansible playbooks, IaC and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience in ITSM/change-controlled environments.

Responsibilities

• Join a skilled team supporting complex enterprise networks.
• Provide 3rd-line support across routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, wireless, and remote access.
• Design, implement and support secure, resilient networks across on-prem, cloud and hybrid environments.
• Drive Network Automation, DevOps and IaC practices.
• Develop automated network deployment and configuration using Ansible, Python/PowerShell, Git, REST APIs.
• Integrate provisioning into CI/CD pipelines.
• Support monitoring, observability, capacity planning and service improvement.
