Pacific Life is investing in its global network and security to support its digital transformation journey. As such, we are searching for a Senior Network Engineer to help transform our network and protect our customers and brand. The Network Engineer will design, implement, maintain, and support our growing network infrastructure and collaborate with our corporate security team to design and build security controls.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Implement products, platforms, software, hardware, or appliance‑based solutions related to network and network security.
- Interface with management and vendors to develop and implement new solutions to meet business requirements.
- Design and manage the rollout of various network infrastructures with necessary capacity planning, performance tuning, and configuration optimization.
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
- Maintain network security across the global enterprise; analyze networks for security threats; monitor the organization’s networks for security breaches and investigate violations when they occur.
- Use network tools for administration, maintenance, automation, and visualization reporting.
- Develop technical documentation describing the deployment, configuration, and management of network infrastructure.
- Participate in IT security audits, respond to audits and ensure required controls are implemented.
- Build strong relationships outside of IT to understand business needs. Communicate complex details in a way that people can understand and advocate for the end user and stakeholder by becoming associated with the products, empathizing with and understanding user needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT, configuring and installing various network devices and services (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS).
- Advanced technical skills and experience with L2 and L3 protocols and technologies such as IPSec, DMVPN, BGP, OSPF, VPC, QoS, 802.1x; familiarity with Cisco IOS‑XE and NXOS.
- Experience with platforms including Aruba, F5, Riverbed, Cisco (Catalyst, ISR, ASR, Nexus). Knowledge of Cisco ACI, Aruba ClearPass, SolarWinds, Juniper and HPE routing/switching equipment is a plus.
- Understanding of open‑source and other tools to assist in monitoring, troubleshooting and performance analysis.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, attention to detail.
- Certifications: Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCNP (or equivalent).
- B.S./M.S. in Engineering and/or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Location & Working Arrangement
This is a hybrid role with time working remotely, in‑office at Tower Bridge, London, and supporting data centers in Slough and Docklands. Close proximity to London and willingness to commute to London is a must.
