Senior NetOps Engineer

We are looking for a Network Operations Engineer to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
  • Lead Criteria - Infrastructure as Code, continuous delivery pipelines, automation design, including working collaboratively with an object-oriented programming language (such as Python) and shared Git repositories.
  • Designing, documenting, implementing, administering, and supporting infrastructure technologies, solutions and services.
  • Taking accountability of issues that occur, is proactive in searching for potential problems, and ensures effective prevention and remediation.
  • Core networking infrastructure knowledge, and in-depth familiarity with technologies covering the range of criteria above.
You and your role

You will be at the heart of designing and delivering secure, high-availability network solutions across hybrid cloud environments - AWS, Azure and OCI. Your day-to-day will involve managing and optimising network services, ensuring operational stability, resilience and performance across DWP critical infrastructure.

You'll work on automation initiatives to reduce manual tasks, improve reliability and accelerate delivery. Expect to implement complex technical solutions, troubleshoot issues and lead improvements in network design and security posture. You'll also manage backlogs, drive continuous integration and deployment practices whilst contributing to modernising our NetOps culture.

Collaboration is key, you will partner with architects, engineers and stakeholders to deliver robust connectivity solutions, while mentoring junior engineers and sharing best practices in automation, service delivery and network engineering.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £73,205

Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £16,000 per year.

Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.

You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
