Job summary

London Borough of Merton is seeking a proactive supervisor for the Safer Streets Team to lead Neighbourhood Wardens in tackling anti-social behaviour and street-based issues.

You will manage a customer-focused service for residents, businesses and visitors, using engagement, problem-solving and proportionate enforcement where necessary.

The role emphasises lawful, evidence-based decision making and building positive relationships to improve community safety.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising frontline staff delivering a customer-focused service.

Be part of a proactive local authority community safety team within the Safer Streets Team, tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB) and street-based issues. You will supervise a team of Neighbourhood Wardens delivering a professional, customer-focused service to residents, businesses, and visitors, with a strong emphasis on reducing ASB, improving community safety, and building positive relationships through engagement, problem-solving, and enforcement where necessary. Every interaction should add value and enhance confidence in the local area.

You will be trusted to use enforcement powers appropriately and proportionately, including issuing warnings, notices and fixed penalties, ensuring all actions are lawful, necessary and evidence-based. You will make informed decisions on enforcement or engagement responses based on risk, vulnerability and evidence.
