Job summary

Allianz UK is seeking a Senior Motor Trade Underwriter to own complex, high‑value new business and nurture broker relationships. The role offers visibility within Allianz’s fast-growing Commercial team and involves hybrid work with 2–3 days in the office across Chelmsford, Bristol, Maidstone or Southampton.

You will participate in the Allianz Global P&C Academy, enhancing underwriting, risk, pricing and claims management skills, with support for professional qualifications where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Proven experience underwriting Motor Trade commercial insurance.
• Strong technical underwriting and risk assessment for complex/non-standard risks.
• Demonstrated trading, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
• Strong analytical, numerical and decision-making ability.
• Good understanding of the UK general insurance market.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and negotiate new and existing Motor Trade business, including complex/high-value risks, in line with Allianz standards.
• Develop and manage a new business pipeline to convert opportunities into profits.
• Build and maintain trusted broker relationships as a credible underwriting partner.
• Engage with brokers through face-to-face meetings and market activity.
• Achieve financial/operational targets to support sustainable growth.
• Collaborate with distribution, operations and underwriting teams to deliver seamless outcomes.
• Provide guidance to colleagues on lower license levels and sign off referrals.
