Job summary

J.P. Morgan is seeking an Applied AI / ML Senior Associate Machine Learning Engineer to join the Applied AI ML team in the Commercial & Investment Bank.

You will blend cutting-edge AI with firm data assets to optimize decisions and automate processes, delivering AI-powered products across NLP, CV, and ML techniques. In this role you will advance state‑of‑the‑art AI with a strong emphasis on research and software engineering, contributing to reusable libraries and services used across teams.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics)
• Strong fundamentals in statistics, optimization and ML theory; familiarity with deep learning architectures (transformers, CNNs, autoencoders)
• NLP specialization or strong interest in NLP
• Broad knowledge of MLOps tooling (versioning, reproducibility, observability)
• Experience monitoring, maintaining, and improving models over time
• Extensive experience with PyTorch and Python data libs (e.g., pandas)
• Experience containerising applications/models for deployment (Docker)
• Experience with major cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Ability to communicate technical info clearly to all levels and build trust with stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Build robust Data Science capabilities scalable across multiple business use cases
• Collaborate with software engineering to design/deploy ML services integrated with strategic systems
• Research and analyze data sets using statistical and ML techniques
• Communicate AI capabilities and results to technical and non-technical audiences
• Document approaches and processes to comply with industry regulation
• Collaborate with cloud and SRE teams; lead design/delivery of production architectures
• Act as an individual contributor with potential for management based on experience
