We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our Mental Health team at HMP Belmarsh, a category A men’s prison located in Thameside.

In this role you’ll be working with a multi-disciplinary team that will support you and help you succeed.

Hours and rota
  • 24-hour service – 5 week rolling rota

    7:00 am – 19:00 pm

    8:00 am – 16:00 pm

    Includes weekend and bank holidays

Salary and contract

This position is full-time; you’ll receive an annual salary between £46,478 – £55,086 per annum, depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients’ mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health‑care plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision by providing outstanding evidence‑based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non‑judgemental care, build therapeutic relationships and promote professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient’s care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.
Qualifications and experience
  • Occupational Therapist or Social Worker – HCPC / NMC registered.
  • Experience of working within mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
  • Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment (ideal but not essential).
