Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP & YOI Hollesley Bay, a Category D Prison located in the village of Hollesley, near Woodbridge in Suffolk. This part‑time role requires 18.75 hours per week (Monday – Friday 07:00 – 18:30; Saturday – Sunday 07:00 – 17:00).

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of patients’ mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi‑disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner, managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health‑care plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision by providing outstanding evidence‑based care, listening to patient feedback so care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non‑judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.
Qualifications
  • NMC registered Mental Health Nurse.
  • Experience of working within mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
  • Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment is an advantage.
