We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Leeds, a category B men’s prison located at Gloucester Terrace in the Armley area of Leeds in West Yorkshire.

Our integrated and friendly team really values strong culture and ensures everyone, both current team members and new starters, carry and hold the same PPG values.

We provide lots of opportunities for development, in-house training, and a shadow shift will be required to guarantee you understand the setting.

Working Hours & Salary

37.5 hours a week – Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm, with 1 in 4 weekends and some bank holidays.

Annual salary up to £49,175 per annum Full Time Equivalent, depending on experience.

Candidate Requirements

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients' mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi‑disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision: provide outstanding evidence‑based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non‑judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patients' care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Occupational Therapist or Social Worker – HCPC / NMC Registered
  • Experience of working within mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Forensic experience – desirable
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders in a multi‑disciplinary environment
  • Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
