Senior Medical Writer (UK – Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Medical Writer to join our UK-based medical communications team. This role spans Medical Affairs, commercial, and medical education workstreams, delivering scientifically robust content across a wide range of formats and therapeutic areas. The ideal candidate brings strong MedComms experience, exceptional scientific communication skills, and the ability to work creatively and efficiently using AI and digital tools.

You will serve as a scientific lead across assigned accounts, collaborating closely with internal teams, clients, and external experts to deliver high-impact content and strategic support.

Key Responsibilities
Content Development
  • Lead the creation and refinement of scientifically accurate, engaging, and compliant materials for diverse audiences.
  • Develop high-quality deliverables including:
  • Scientific and promotional slide decks
  • Advisory board and steering committee materials
  • Medical education and eLearning modules
  • Manuscripts, abstracts, and posters
  • MSL and field training content
  • Scientific lexicons, platforms, and narrative frameworks
  • Digital content (webpages, emails, infographics, animations, social media assets)
  • Ensure content aligns with ABPI/EFPIA standards, client expectations, and internal quality frameworks.
Scientific Strategy & Collaboration
  • Provide scientific insight and direction in client discussions, team meetings, workshops, and advisory boards.
  • Support the development of scientific communication plans and strategic content roadmaps.
  • Conduct expert interviews, literature reviews, and data interpretation to guide content and messaging.
AI & Digital Integration
  • Actively use AI-powered tools to enhance content development, ideation, research, and workflow efficiency.
  • Support the integration of digital-first approaches into content (interactive learning, modular content, omnichannel-friendly assets).
  • Share best practices with the team, helping establish responsible and compliant AI use within the agency.
Project & Team Support
  • Review and mentor junior writers, providing structured feedback and guidance.
  • Manage multiple ongoing projects, ensuring work is delivered on schedule and to a high standard.
  • Support pitch development, proposals, and new-business activities when required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical communications agency (Medical Affairs or commercial).
  • Strong, demonstrable MedComms writing experience across a variety of deliverables.
  • Excellent understanding of industry guidelines (ABPI, EFPIA, GPP).
  • Ability to translate complex scientific information into clear, accurate, and engaging content.
  • Comfort using AI and digital tools as part of the writing and content development process.
  • Strong client communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Education
  • Master’s degree preferred (e.g., MSc, MRes, MPH, MPharm).
  • PhD preferred but not essential.
  • Life sciences or related discipline required.
