Job summary

IQVIA in the United Kingdom seeks a Senior Medical Director to deliver strategic medical and scientific leadership across pulmonology. You will engage early with customers, shape proposals and provide subject matter expertise throughout clinical development and trials.

You will lead cross-functional teams, defend bids and guide the Center of Excellence with a strong track record in pharma or CRO settings. Occasional international travel is required.

Qualifications

Job Overview

The Senior Medical Director provides strategic medical and scientific subject matter experience and expertise to IQVIA in the specialty/subspecialty or therapeutic area for which they have first hand knowledge informed by training, experience and expertise. They gain greater independence over time for various activities that include but are not necessarily limited to early engagement of potential customers, proposal development in response to RFPs, participation in client proposal bid defense meetings, medical director and subject matter expertise as a consultant throughout the research and development lifecycle and the duration of clinical trials, and/or as an independent customer solution. They collaborate across the organization to ensure that all of IQVIA's resources are fully leveraged in opportunities. Participation in thought leadership activities is highly encouraged.

Required Education and Experience

• Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.
• Knowledge: Requires exceptional business knowledge to drive results for the organization. Applies extensive business and industry expertise and provides organizational thought leadership.
• At least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a CRO setting. Candidates from a CRO background should have held a senior strategic role, demonstrating strong leadership capabilities and significant expertise in Pulmonology.

Education

• Terminal degree (MD) and training in Pulmonology.
• Practical knowledge in leading and managing execution of processes, projects and tactics within the research and development therapeutic area.
• Board Certified

Travel Requirements

• Occasional travel. Must be able to travel nationally or internationally at least 20% of the time.
