Job summary

An established UK M&E contractor is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager for South East London. The role carries a salary of £80,000–£90,000 plus a £5,000 car allowance, full travel expenses, pension, healthcare and a bonus.

You will oversee design, procurement, RAMs, and commercial aspects of major shell and core schemes. Candidates should have experience delivering substantial M&E projects valued at £5m or more, plus at least two years in a management position.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering major shell and core projects.
• Experience managing projects to a minimum of £5m M&E value.
• At least 2 years in a management role; longevity in prior roles.

Responsibilities

• Tender review and validation.
• Design management with client, main contractor and consultants.
• Procurement of subcontractors, kit and plant.
• Prepare technical submittals and RFIs.
• Value engineering where applicable.
• Programme of works using MS Project or Asta.
• Health & safety management (RAMs).
• Commercial aspects with variations and sub-contractor accounts.
• Oversee variations and team coordination.
• Lead progress meetings with stakeholders and oversee commissioning.
• Prepare OM manuals and client handover.

Client: My client has established themselves as one of the UK's premier M&E contractors. Following their formation almost 75 years ago, they have grown their turnover to over £250m per annum. The business boasts an envious track record of delivering some of the UK's and London's landmark projects. Typically the specialise in major shell and core projects in sectors such as; commercial offices, healthcare, pharmaceutical and education. Despite their size, this Tier 1 M&E Contractor has fantastic staff retention rates with a reputation for looking after their staff. They offer excellent exposure and internal training schemes with a hands-on approach to developing their staff.

Role: Senior Mechanical Project Manager - South East London - Salary £80,000 - £90,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance + Full Travel Expenses + Pension + Healthcare + Bonus

Role/Responsibilities:

• Tender review/validation
• Design Management (reviewing design liaising with client, main contractor and consultants)
• Procurement of subcontractors, kit and plant
• Technical submittals
• RFIs - Liaison with client team, main contractor and sub contractors
• Value Engineering where applicable
• Programming of works - using MS Project or Asta project
• Health & Safety management (RAMs)
• Commercial Responsibility, assisting with sub contractor variation accounts working alongside project specific Quantity Survey.
• Management of variations
• Team Coordination (overseeing junior engineers, construction managers and supervisors)
• Progress meetings with sub contractors, client and internal meetings
• Overseeing commissioning stages
• Formulation of OM Manuals and client handover

The ideal candidate:

• Experience delivering major shell and core projects
• Experience managing projects to a minimum of £5m M&E value
• A minimum 2 years' experience in a management role
• The candidate will show longevity in previous employmentMust be technically astute and a good people manager
