Job description
Senior Mechanical Project Manager - Tier 1 MEP Contractor
Up to £95,000 + Package

Fawkes & Reece are working exclusively with a leading Tier 1 building services contractor to recruit a Senior Mechanical Project Manager for their specialist London Bid & Pre-Construction Team. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a collaborative, people-focused organisation delivering major commercial projects across the capital.

The Role

This position sits at the forefront of tendering, bidding and early-stage project development, with full involvement through pre-construction and into delivery. You will shape the mechanical strategy and technical approach for major MEP schemes typically valued between £50m-£100m, and then support a smooth transition into construction.

This role is ideal for a Senior Mechanical PM who enjoys influencing how complex projects are won, set up and executed - not just delivering what has already been designed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical input across tenders, bids, pre-construction and planning.
  • Produce technical proposals, delivery methodologies, programme assumptions and risk strategies.
  • Work closely with electrical, commercial, planning and construction leads to build winning bids.
  • Provide continuity as schemes move from bid through into delivery.
  • Ensure design, safety, quality and technical standards are rigorously upheld.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal teams, clients, consultants and JV partners.
  • Promote a collaborative, integrated "one team" approach across all project stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
  • Strong commercial-sector background as a Senior Mechanical Project Manager.
  • Proven experience in tendering/bidding in addition to project delivery.
  • Confident working within complex, multi-discipline project environments.
  • A people-focused, non-adversarial leadership style.
  • Ability to communicate clearly across all project phases with clients and internal teams.
  • Stable career history with the desire for long-term development and progression.
Why This Role Stands Out

Our client is a modern Tier 1 contractor known for:

  • A highly collaborative, respectful and non-confrontational culture.
  • Avoiding the typical "subby bashing" mentality - they want problem solvers, not adversaries.
  • Selecting the right projects, not chasing turnover at any cost.
  • Strong client relationships and repeat business on major commercial schemes.
  • Exceptional investment in people through mentoring, structured development and clear succession planning.
  • Long-term career progression paths with genuine opportunities to step into senior leadership roles.
Package & Working Style
  • Salary up to £95,000
  • Competitive benefits package (shared upon shortlist)
  • Flexible hybrid working during pre-construction; site-first during delivery
  • Opportunity to influence and deliver flagship projects in central London
