Job summary

Altana UK, within the BYK site engineering team, is seeking a capable Maintenance Leader to shape and execute the mechanical maintenance strategy. You will lead the site mechanical trades, manage resources and budgets, and drive improvements across preventive and reactive maintenance activities.

Key duties include mentoring tradespeople, coordinating external contractors, and ensuring SAP PM is optimally used to support end users and asset reliability.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Proven mechanical experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with H&S systems and equipment standards.
• Ability to lead and mentor a maintenance team.
• Experience with condition monitoring and rotating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site mechanical maintenance strategy and budgets.
• Manage mechanical tradespeople and apprentices; assess performance.
• Oversee external contractors to ensure value delivery.
• Coordinate SAP PM tasks and ensure correct usage.
• Plan maintenance schedules and drive improvements.
• Support asset reliability and preventive maintenance.
• Plan shutdown work and manage spares and repairs.
• Maintain equipment records and monitor KPIs.
