Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the delivery of mechanical design across water and wastewater projects in the UK. You will own feasibility through to detailed design, construction support and commissioning, working with multi-disciplinary teams and clients to deliver resilient infrastructure.

We value Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, strong technical leadership, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while driving engineering excellence across the Water team

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or actively working towards.
  • Experience in UK water sector or a similar regulated industry.
  • Experience leading technical delivery across multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting the development of junior engineers.

  • Lead mechanical design activities across water and wastewater treatment works and infrastructure.

We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Water team in London, High Wycombe or Reading. ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the delivery of mechanical engineering design across a range of infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, supporting successful project outcomes throughout the full lifecycle.


Your Responsibilities Will Include


  • Leading mechanical design activities across water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations and associated infrastructure.

  • Producing and reviewing technical calculations, specifications, schedules and engineering documentation.

  • Collaborating with Project Managers, civil, electrical, process and structural engineers to deliver integrated design solutions.

  • Supporting site investigations, design reviews and construction activities where required.

  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to developing engineers.

  • Building strong relationships with clients, contractors and supply chain partners to support successful project delivery.

  • Contributing to continuous improvement and technical excellence across the Mechanical Engineering team.

ABOUT YOU


  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or actively working towards.

  • Experience delivering mechanical engineering projects within the UK water sector or a similar regulated industry.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems associated with water and wastewater treatment, pumping stations and associated infrastructure.

  • Experience leading technical delivery across multidisciplinary engineering projects.

  • Experience producing and reviewing technical specifications, calculations and engineering documentation.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience mentoring or supporting the development of junior engineers.


Desirable


  • Experience working alongside contractors and delivery partners.

  • Knowledge of digital engineering tools and modern methods of project delivery.

  • Experience supporting client relationships and framework delivery.

  • Experience across both infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects.
