Stantec in Edinburgh seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the delivery of mechanical design for water and wastewater projects, from feasibility to commissioning. Hybrid working from our Edinburgh office, with a focus on resilience and sustainable solutions for Scotland's water infrastructure.
You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to Stantec's Water business growth while maintaining technical excellence.
Scottish Water is about to invest £8.1bn in its network, the biggest programme in its history. Stantec is one of just two Primary Designers chosen to deliver it.
This landmark partnership, which potentially extends to 2039, secures meaningful work from our Edinburgh office. Not one project. Not one framework cycle. A pipeline of water and wastewater schemes that will shape how Scotland lives for a generation. This major framework success anchors our exceptional performance across the UK for the AMP8 regulatory cycle, where we have secured exciting new project wins and solidified our standing as the number 1 design consultancy in the regulated water sector.
Most engineers get one programme like this in a career. We're building the team now, and the people who join early get to shape how it runs.
The work you deliver will directly support the future of Scotland's water infrastructure, helping clients improve resilience, meet environmental commitments and deliver sustainable engineering solutions that benefit communities for generations to come.
Beyond project delivery, you'll play an important role in strengthening our Mechanical Engineering capability by sharing your expertise, supporting the development of colleagues and promoting technical excellence across the team. Your contribution will help deliver innovative infrastructure that protects the environment while supporting the continued growth of Stantec's Water business.
You will lead the delivery of mechanical engineering design across a range of infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for Scottish Water, supporting delivery from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design, construction support and commissioning. The role is based in our Edinburgh office with hybrid working.
Your work will focus on water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations and associated infrastructure. You will produce and review technical calculations, specifications, schedules and engineering documentation, and work closely with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
You will support site investigations, design reviews and construction activities where required, and build strong working relationships with clients, contractors and delivery partners.
You will also provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, helping to strengthen our Mechanical Engineering capability.
