Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Water Team in Scotland. This role involves preparing feasibility studies, detailed designs, and construction support for water projects. You’ll collaborate with various engineering disciplines while enjoying a hybrid work environment, designed for a balanced work-life dynamic.

  • Progress towards Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution.
  • Proven ability to deliver engineering designs and specifications.

Senior Mechanical Engineer, Water Projects

Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer in one of our Scotland offices – whilst also taking advantage of work from home days through our hybrid work approach.

Here’s what you’ll do:
  • Prepare feasibility studies, outline design, detailed design and construction support
  • Produce plant layouts, design drawings and mechanical plant selection including specifications, WIMES Data Sheets, valve schedules, equipment schedules, lifting strategies, hydraulic headloss calculations and P&IDs for Water Projects
  • Liaise and collaborate with our water and other discipline teams including civil, electrical, process and mechanical engineers nationwide
  • Visit site to carry surveys and support liaisons with clients, contractors & suppliers
  • Attend and contribute design review meetings such as HAZOPs, HAZIDs, ALMs and SWIFTS
  • Line manage and mentor junior and graduate mechanical engineers
  • Complete checking of mechanical deliverables produced by other engineers
