Job summary

The City Recruiter is supporting a leading engineering organisation within the nuclear sector, seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their project delivery team in Warrington. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering complex mechanical design solutions across large-scale nuclear decommissioning projects.

You will collaborate with EC&I, civil and process engineers, produce detailed design documentation, apply safety and quality standards, and mentor junior

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• CEng or working towards is advantageous.
• Experience in highly regulated industries preferred (nuclear, oil & gas, defence, or power).

Responsibilities

• Lead and support mechanical handling systems design for nuclear environments.
• Produce and review design reports, calculations, 3D models and drawings.
• Ensure safety, regulatory and quality compliance across projects.
• Collaborate with EC&I, civil and process engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and HAZOP/HAZAN studies.
• Support project planning, cost estimation and scheduling.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
