University of Exeter is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide strategic management and technical oversight for mechanical maintenance across a large university estate. The role ensures safe, efficient operation of essential systems to support teaching, research and residential environments.

As the technical authority, you will manage contractor performance, drive continuous improvement in asset reliability and sustainability, and support capital projects and long-term asset planning

Qualifications

• Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for strategic management and technical oversight of mechanical maintenance contracts across a large, complex university estate.
• Maintains mechanical systems safely, efficiently and in full compliance with statutory requirements.
• Acts as the University's technical authority, manages contractor performance and drives asset reliability and value for money.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance contracts and capital projects within Estate Services and Engineering teams.
• Collaborate with Sustainability Team and other campus stakeholders to decarbonise the estate.
