Job description

We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Manchester team. If you're inspired by high–quality design, sustainability, and collaboration, and want to contribute to meaningful projects across the built environment.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will head the design and delivery of mechanical systems and components across a range of projects. You'll collaborate with wider design teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and drive innovation to achieve the highest levels of performance, safety, and efficiency.

You'll be responsible for overseeing all stages of design, from concept through to construction, while supporting junior team members, contributing to sustainable design strategies, and maintaining the quality and integrity of our work.

Key elements of the job:
  • Head mechanical design activities and oversee delivery from start to finish
  • Prepare and review technical drawings, reports, and specifications
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost analyses, and risk assessments
  • Manage resources, timelines, and budgets across multiple projects
  • Carry out site inspections, testing, and commissioning
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and contribute to their development
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards including ASHRAE, ISO, and UK building regs
  • Engage in CPD activities and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
  • Produce clear technical reports and deliver presentations to stakeholders
What we're looking for:
  • BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • CEng or actively working towards chartership
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and project leadership
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and design analysis tools
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and energy systems
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and LEED/BREEAM standards
  • Excellent communication and problem–solving skills
