Job summary

Vantage Data Centers UK Management Company Ltd seeks a Principal Mechanical Program Engineer to shape mechanical systems for digital infrastructure. You will lead project mechanical engineering, standardize equipment, and provide technical direction to project teams and vendors.

You will drive CFD studies, ensure design coherence with other disciplines, and align with client and operations needs across EMEA sites. Travel as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Chartered / Professional Engineer credentials preferred.
• 10+ years as a mechanical engineer focused on data center or mission-critical environments.
• Experience in EMEA construction markets is required.
• Working knowledge of critical cooling and power infrastructure in data center projects.
• Knowledge of control logic and feedback loops in HVAC.
• Knowledge of data center metrics (pPUE, ASHRAE temps) and drivers.
• Knowledge of building and fire code standards.
• Willingness to travel (monthly up to 3 days).

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering leadership for site selection, new site development, and project initiation.
• Serve as technical authority with hyperscale customers, investors, and stakeholders.
• Lead mechanical engineering elements of product requirements, guidelines, and standards.
• Develop and update mechanical design standards for reliability and value engineering.
• Lead standardized mechanical equipment in OFCI inventory and support procurement with vendors.
• Develop high-value engineering ideas and perform cost-benefit analyses.
• Collaborate with internal/external partners to implement good ideas and resolve issues.
• Deliver mechanical designs using DfMA principles (HVAC, piping, etc.).
• Ensure designs are coordinated across sustainability, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
