Job summary

CIBSE Journal is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their building services team in Leeds. You will lead mechanical design delivery on projects across healthcare, education, commercial and public sectors, mentoring junior engineers and developing client relationships.

You will deliver technical drawings, calculations, specifications and design documentation, while maintaining high technical standards and contributing to sustainable low-carbon engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 3–4 years' post–qualification experience within building services design.
• Strong consultancy experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions.
• Knowledge of British Standards and Building Regulations.
• Experience using design software such as Revit, Relux/Dialux and Amtech.

Are you a skilled Mechanical Engineer looking to work on technically challenging projects across sectors? This would include healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical and public sector developments.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions, supporting project delivery, mentoring junior engineers and developing strong client relationships within a collaborative engineering environment.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will:

• Lead the mechanical engineering design delivery on selected projects

• Experience working with BREEAM requirements would be advantageous


• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical building services design

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership


• CIBSE / IMechE membership


• Experience working on complex projects across multiple sectors


• Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers


• Understanding of electrical engineering principles would be beneficial
