Senior Mechanical Engineer Aerospace & Defence

Location : Basildon (Hybrid ~4 days on-site)

Rate : £70.00 per hour

Hours : 37 Hours per week

Security Clearance : SC Cleared (Sole UK National)

Contract Type : Temporary contract until March 2026 with possibility of extension

Overview

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a high-profile Aerospace & Defence programme, supporting the development of next-generation Missile Seeker systems .

Youll contribute to the design and delivery of advanced electro-mechanical products within a multi-disciplinary engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality mechanical design solutions to technical and international standards.
• Conduct detailed design work including calculations, tolerance studies, and drawing generation (BS8888 / GD&T).
• Create and maintain BoMs using Teamcenter PLM .
• Support design reviews and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of solutions.
• Apply DfX principles across manufacturing, assembly, and testing stages.
