Job summary

px Group is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Engineer to ensure safe, reliable and compliant operations across px operated sites. You will deliver mechanical systems and equipment performance, with on-the-job training and regular development reviews to enhance competence.

The role offers the chance to lead projects, manage asset integrity, and provide technical guidance across teams, with a focus on compliance, safety and commercial considerations in a high-hazard environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in process/fuel terminal, refinery or power generation environment including maintenance & contract management.
  • Experience with outages/shutdowns and 24/7 operations.
  • Familiarity with PSSR, legislation and insurance requirements.
  • Experience with budgets, KPIs and revenue/capital papers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional mechanical engineering support to px sites for asset integrity and reliability.
  • Lead and manage projects, ensuring compliance and performance.
  • Set and implement mechanical systems, strategies, and processes.
  • Provide guidance to px personnel and customers on mechanical matters.
  • Ensure documentation is sourced, stored, updated and communicated.
  • Assist in providing design specifications for new plant developments.
  • Conduct audits and drive actions.
  • Deliver projects within px PM procedures and manage changes.
  • Lead px, contract and other personnel to maintain standards.

The Opportunity


We are now recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer.


The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a key role for the safe, reliable and compliant operations, through effective delivery of all mechanical systems and associated equipment across stipulated px operated sites. Effectively ensuring compliance, safety, integrity, reliability and commercial considerations.


You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.


Key Responsibilities


  • Manage assigned projects and tasks to provide professional mechanical engineering support to stipulated px sites, supporting and delivering asset integrity, reliability, statutory compliance and improvement.

  • The Senior Mechanical Engineer will also complete local site support based upon business requirements.

  • In line with business requirements, set and implement effective mechanical engineering systems, strategies, projects and processes ensuring required performance and compliance are delivered and maintained.

  • Provide appropriate guidance and support to px personnel and customers on mechanical engineering matters including shutdowns, unplanned/planned events, incidents, projects, modifications and improvement activities.

  • Ensure technical documentation (procedures, drawings, instructions, guidance, systems) are accurately and consistently sourced, stored, updated and communicated.

  • Assist in providing functional design specifications on any new plant developments or projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and standards

  • Complete assigned audits communicating outcomes and driving actions.

  • Deliver projects (capital, revenue, improvement & change management) consistent with px project management procedures, ensuring changes are raised and approved via the px ‘Management of Change’ process. When required, support client managed projects.

  • Lead and manage assigned px, contract and other personnel, setting and maintaining standards.

Minimum Requirements


  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline, or equivalent

  • Relevant experience in the process, fuel terminal, refinery or power generation environment including:



  • Maintenance & contract management

  • Outage / shutdown management

  • Operations interface, policies & procedures

  • PSSR, legislative, best practice standards and insurance compliance.



  • Ability to work cross functionally delivering policies, initiatives and compliance with company and legislative requirements.

  • Experience of working in and contributing to a 24/7 operational environment.

  • Experience working on projects with associated project controls.

  • Experience of managing budgets, KPIs and development of revenue and capital papers to secure funding.
