About the Role

An established and well–respected Building Services Consultancy in Oxford is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team.

This is a great opportunity to work on a variety of commercial, residential, education, and healthcare projects, contributing to sustainable and innovative building design. You ll take a leading role in project delivery, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to produce efficient and creative design solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the mechanical design on multiple projects from concept to completion.
  • Produce detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for HVAC, public health, and building management systems.
  • Attend design and coordination meetings with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Work collaboratively with electrical, sustainability, and architectural teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with UK building regulations, sustainability targets, and industry best practices.
  • Support project bids, fee proposals, and contribute to business development when required.
About You
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Chartered or working towards CEng status (IMechE or CIBSE).
  • Proven experience delivering mechanical building services design within a consultancy environment.
  • Strong technical understanding of HVAC systems, public health design, and sustainable design principles.
  • Proficient in relevant design software (e.g. Hevacomp, Revit, AutoCAD, IES).
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to lead projects and work independently.
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for mentoring junior engineers.
