Senior Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer – Midlands Region (Hybrid Working)

We’re working with a leading consultancy that’s expanding its Project & Programme Services team and looking to bring on board a Senior Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer. The Role

You’ll be a key player in the M&E and NetZero team, supporting the growth of building services engineering offerings. Working closely with the Managing M&E Engineer, you’ll also mentor junior engineers and contribute to the delivery of high-quality design and surveying services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical building services design from concept to detailed specification (heating, cooling, ventilation, public health).
  • Produce detailed calculations using tools like Hevacomp and IES.
  • Prepare technical specifications, reports, and client presentations.
  • Conduct condition surveys, inspections, and oversee commissioning.
  • Manage project delivery within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Support junior team members in technical development.
About You
  • Proven experience in building services consultancy, particularly in retrofit and refurbishment projects.
  • Strong understanding of renewable technologies and decarbonisation strategies.
  • Degree-qualified in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Working towards Chartered status (CIBSE, IMechE, or similar).
  • Proficient in IES, Hevacomp, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office; Revit experience is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable in UK technical standards, energy reduction methods, and performance verification.
