We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with proven experience in the water sector to join our growing UK team. This role can be based in Manchester, Leeds, or Chester, with the flexibility of hybrid working.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled and solutions-driven engineer to contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of mechanical systems across a wide range of water infrastructure projects, including clean water treatment, wastewater treatment, sludge handling, and pumping systems.

Responsibilities
  • Mechanical Design & Engineering: Plan and design mechanical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities, including pumping stations, sludge systems, and process plant equipment.
  • Project Delivery: Support the development and implementation of engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with technical standards and client requirements.
  • Contract & Supplier Management: Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, acting as a key point of contact within established contract frameworks.
  • Feasibility & Process Design: Contribute to feasibility studies and process design engineering, including specification of equipment and continuous improvement of systems.
  • Engineering Inspections: Conduct inspections and assessments of mechanical installations, identifying risks and recommending remedial actions.
  • Innovation & Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance existing systems and processes, supporting innovation and change initiatives.
  • Client Engagement: Assist in managing client relationships and contribute to proposals, tenders, and project planning.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Support colleagues in using knowledge management systems and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and development.
What You Will Bring
  • A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on water sector projects.
  • Experience supervising junior colleagues (7-12 months).
  • Proven experience in clean water, wastewater, sludge treatment, or similar infrastructure projects is essential.
  • Strong technical skills in engineering design, specification, testing, and implementation.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM platforms).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and efficiency.
