Senior Mechanical Engineer

Lead the future of sustainable building services design. An established, forward–thinking building services consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of innovative mechanical design projects, work closely with multidisciplinary teams, and help deliver cutting–edge sustainable building solutions across the UK.

Your new role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a leading role in the design and delivery of mechanical systems for a diverse range of projects, including office/commercial fit out and high–rise residential projects. You'll act as a key point of contact for clients, design teams, and contractors, while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring that high technical standards are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical design from concept to completion across a variety of building projects.
  • Prepare and review design packages, including drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Undertake detailed calculations, modelling, and performance analysis for energy–efficient solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations, CIBSE guidelines, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate effectively with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Carry out site inspections and attend project and client meetings.
  • Support the development of junior engineers through mentoring and technical guidance.
What you'll need to succeed
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
  • At least 4–5 years' experience in mechanical/building services design.
  • Strong technical expertise in HVAC design, thermodynamics, and sustainability principles.
  • Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Excel.
  • Good understanding of CDM regulations and low–carbon design approaches.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with proven leadership experience.
