Job summary

Inyanga Maritime is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a highly experienced engineering team working on HydroWing and the Morlais project. You will contribute across the full lifecycle—from concept to offshore deployment—leading design, calculations, manufacturing drawings and offshore tooling.

The role offers collaboration with engineers, naval architects, project managers and offshore operations specialists, with flexible working across Celtic regions and international teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong experience in offshore equipment, heavy mechanical engineering or renewable energy.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ANSYS and STAAD Pro.
  • Knowledge of structural steelwork, fabrication and offshore engineering.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Experience within tidal energy, offshore wind or marine engineering desirable.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership desirable.
  • Willingness to travel offshore as projects require.

HydroWing is being developed for the 30 MW Morlais project off Anglesey, one of Europe's largest consented tidal energy developments and a flagship project that will help establish tidal stream energy as a mainstream renewable technology.

Supporting HydroWing is Inyanga Maritime's integrated engineering and marine capability, delivering offshore installation, foundations, cable laying, O&M, specialist vessels and bespoke offshore equipment for the renewable energy sector.

Description and Main Purpose of Job

This is a unique opportunity to join a highly experienced engineering team developing one of the world's leading commercial tidal energy systems. Working across the full engineering lifecycle—from concept development and detailed design through manufacture, testing and offshore deployment—you will play a key role in delivering the HydroWing technology and the first phase of the 30 MW Morlais commercial project.
