Job summary

AES is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their hybrid team in Cambridgeshire, working on advanced electro-mechanical medical devices. You will design, develop and transfer products through the lifecycle with cross-functional teams.

The role demands solid design experience, a strong knowledge of DFSDFM/DFA principles, and collaboration across engineering disciplines to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

  • HND, Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong mechanical design experience within a complex engineering environment.
  • Excellent SolidWorks CAD skills.
  • Experience developing complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • A good understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
  • Experience supporting products through transfer to manufacture.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a highly successful engineering and technology business developing complex, next-generation electro-mechanical products for the healthcare sector.

This is an opportunity to become part of a collaborative multidisciplinary engineering team, where you’ll play a key role in taking innovative concepts through design, development and manufacture while working on technically challenging projects using the latest engineering technologies.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the design and development of sophisticated electro-mechanical systems, working closely with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams throughout the complete product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing innovative electro-mechanical products and assemblies.

About You

We’re looking for engineers who can demonstrate:

  • HND, Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong mechanical design experience within a complex engineering environment.
  • Excellent SolidWorks CAD skills.
  • Experience developing complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • A good understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
  • Experience supporting products through transfer to manufacture.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Experience within Medical Devices, Life Sciences, Scientific Instrumentation, Robotics, Aerospace or another highly regulated engineering environment would be advantageous, although engineers from other precision engineering sectors will also be considered.
