Job summary

A leading medical manufacturing company in Cumbernauld is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a BSc or BEng in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in a design role, proficient in SolidWorks. Responsibilities include leading projects, providing technical support, and working on product development from concept through to manufacture and launch.

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years' industry experience in a similar design environment.
  • Knowledge of materials like sheet metal fabrication and plastics.
  • Innovative and passionate about design.

Responsibilities

  • Working within the Research & Development team.
  • Providing technical guidance and support.
  • Leading full lifecycle projects for the company.
  • Creating drawings for manufacture and generating BOM's.
  • Completing design specifications and risk assessments.

Location: North Lanarkshire

My client works within Medical Manufacturing and they are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their team in the North Lanarkshire area on a permanent basis.

Principal Mechanical Engineer
Qualifications
  • BSc or BEng qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Product Design/Engineering Design or similar
  • 5 or more years' industry experience ideally working in a similar design / development role within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient with using ideally SolidWorks software for design
  • Product Development experience would also be advantageous but not essential
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical design and engineering principles
  • Knowledge of different materials such as sheet metal fabrication, castings and injection moulded plastics
  • Innovative and passionate about design
  • Excellent leadership and organisational skills
  • Able to work well individually as well as part of a team
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Responsibilities
  • Working within the Research & Development team
  • Providing technical guidance and support
  • Using SolidWorks CAD software for design on a day-to-day basis
  • Creating drawings for manufacture and generating BOM's
  • Working on design analysis and FEA when required
  • Leading full lifecycle projects for the company
  • Being responsible for the development of new and existing products
  • Being involved from concept through to manufacture and launch
  • Completing design specifications and risk assessments FMEA
  • Supporting product Verification & Validation
  • Lead hands on tasks such as generating prototypes and test
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers
