I'm currently searching for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a Cambridge-based technology company developing advanced imaging and inspection systems used across sectors such as automotive, aerospace, semiconductors, and energy storage. This is a hands‑on, design‑focused role where you'll work on the mechanical design and development of precision components and assemblies, supporting both R&D and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and prototype mechanical components and sub‑assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Collaborate with scientists, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to refine designs.
• Maintain BOMs, drawings, and revision control documentation.
• Apply Design for Manufacture (DfM) principles and manage engineering changes.

About You

• 8+ years' experience in mechanical design or product development.
• Strong SolidWorks skills (sheet metal, solid body, technical drawings).
• Experience with mechanism design (ball‑screws, kinematic mounts) and stress calculations.
• Confident communicator across technical and cross‑functional teams.

Desirable: Knowledge of optics, electronics, or CE marking; prototyping experience (machining, 3D printing, soldering). Education: Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
