Job description

Good Evening, I'm currently searching for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a Cambridge–based technology company developing advanced imaging and inspection systems used across sectors such as automotive, aerospace, semiconductors, and energy storage. This is a hands–on, design–focused role where you'll work on the mechanical design and development of precision components and assemblies, supporting both R&D and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and prototype mechanical components and sub–assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Collaborate with scientists, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to refine designs.
• Maintain BOMs, drawings, and revision control documentation.
• Apply Design for Manufacture (DfM) principles and manage engineering changes.

About You

• 8+ years' experience in mechanical design or product development.
• Strong SolidWorks skills (sheet metal, solid body, technical drawings).
• Experience with mechanism design (ball–screws, kinematic mounts) and stress calculations.
• Confident communicator across technical and cross–functional teams.

Desirable

Knowledge of optics, electronics, or CE marking; prototyping experience (machining, 3D printing, soldering).

Education

Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
