Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Cheltenham is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. You will produce designs using Autodesk Inventor and work closely with a manufacturing team. Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of experience and a relevant engineering degree. The salary is competitive, ranging from £40,000 to £50,000 per annum depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Design Engineering / CAD Operation.
  • Proficient using 3D CAD software like Inventor or SolidWorks.
  • Ability to perform mechanical calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Create 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor and 2D designs with AutoCAD.
  • Liaise with manufacturing providers.
  • Update 3D models and drawings.

Role - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION: Cheltenham

TERM: Permanent

SALARY: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client is a manufacturer of specialist products for a variety of sectors, and they are looking to take on a Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the Cheltenham area.

Attributes
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar Design Engineering / CAD Operation position
  • Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
  • Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo etc.
  • Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
  • Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
  • Have the ability to carry out mechanical calculations
  • Any previous experience of working with process machinery or steel / metal materials would be desirable
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proficient using MS Office
  • Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
Responsibilities
  • Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
  • Producing 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor CAD software and 2D designs with AutoCAD
  • Liaising with manufacturing providers
  • Being involved in final assembly of products
  • Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
  • Updating 3D models and drawings
  • Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
  • Checking drawings for sign off
  • Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
