Job summary

Dalkia UK is seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to deliver innovative decarbonisation and energy infrastructure projects across hospitals, universities and industrial sites. You will develop mechanical designs from concept to detailed design, produce specifications and schematics, and coordinate with internal teams and external consultants throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 3–5+ years in building services, energy, infrastructure or M&E.
• Experience with HVAC, steam, heating, chilled water and domestic water systems.
• Knowledge of heat pumps, boilers, CHP and chillers.
• Ability to produce schematics and concept layouts using AutoCAD.
• Understanding commissioning and engineering documentation.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience working in live operational environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs from concept to detailed design.
• Produce and review specifications, schematics and technical documentation.
• Coordinate designs with internal engineering teams and external consultants.
• Support the delivery of low‑carbon and energy efficiency projects.
• Ensure designs are practical, buildable and compliant with relevant standards.
• Participate in site surveys, inspections and client meetings.
• Support construction, commissioning and handover activities.
• Identify and help mitigate technical and operational risks.
• Work collaboratively with project, electrical and controls engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
