Job summary

RGB Recruitment represents a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Solihull or surrounding locations. The role offers exposure to healthcare, education, commercial and industrial sectors with a focus on sustainability and net-zero objectives.

The successful candidate will lead mechanical delivery on projects, guide junior engineers, produce drawings and calculations, and engage with clients to foster repeat business.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering, or equivalent.
HNC/HND with suitable mechanical building services design experience considered.
Chartered status or working towards it is preferred.
A minimum of 3–4 years post-qualification experience in building services design.
Strong experience in mechanical building services design.
Experience with Revit and other mechanical design software.

Responsibilities

Acting as project leader on selected projects.
Working as part of larger multidisciplinary project teams.
Managing the mechanical engineering aspects of projects from inception through to completion.
Attending client and project meetings and delivering presentations where required.
Developing strong relationships with existing clients and supporting opportunities for repeat business.
Providing technical leadership and helping to maintain high standards of mechanical engineering delivery.
Producing mechanical engineering drawings, specifications and design information.
Producing design calculations and supporting junior engineers with their calculations.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across different disciplines.
Contributing to technically challenging projects across a range of sectors.
Supporting the development of more junior members of the team.
Ensuring work is delivered to a high standard and within agreed timescales.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Solihull, Birmingham, Leeds, Huntington, Nottingham or Leicester

Salary: GBP48,000 – GBP55,000

An established, privately owned multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take a key role within the team, working with a high degree of autonomy across a varied portfolio of technically challenging projects.

You will have the opportunity to take responsibility for mechanical engineering delivery, lead selected projects and provide guidance to more junior members of the team.

The role will include:

Requirements

A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
HNC/HND candidates with suitable mechanical building services design experience will also be considered
Ideally Chartered or working towards Chartered status
A minimum of 3–4 years' post–qualification experience in building services design
Strong experience within mechanical building services design
Experience using Microsoft Office and relevant mechanical design software
Experience with Revit is desirable
Knowledge of British and European Standards and relevant Building Regulations

ict>Knowledge of HTMs would be beneficial

Professional membership of CIBSE or a relevant professional body is desirable

Good understanding of sustainable building design and renewable technologies

Working knowledge of BREEAM

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong organisational and time management skills

A proactive approach with a willingness to develop existing and new technical skills

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate confidently with clients
