Overview

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will play a crucial role in developing innovative mechanical solutions within the Aerospace, Space, Defence and Automation sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your engineering expertise in Warrington, contributing to impactful projects.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate within the technical team to develop innovative ideas and concept designs for new project applications.
  • Research and develop on all products supplied by the business to improve the knowledge base of the technical team and understand the benefits and limitations of the products.
  • Work with internal sales to provide technical assistance to new enquiries, including sizing calculations and technical knowledge to help provide efficient solutions to project enquiries.
  • Take ownership of customer issues, researching, diagnosing, troubleshooting and identifying solutions to resolve application issues.
  • Work closely with customers to understand the root cause of problems and guide clients through a sequence of actions to solve technical issues via phone or email.
  • Where applicable, travel to customer sites to provide on-site commissioning and customer training, as well as aftermarket technical support.
  • Assist the Technical Manager to plan, co-ordinate and review the work of the department to ensure effective use of resources.
  • Ensure effective and regular communication with staff, contractors, customers and suppliers to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Represent the business with stakeholders, suppliers and customers, building constructive relationships to support the company’s work and reputation.
  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems for industrial applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for proposed designs.
  • Create detailed technical drawings and specifications using CAD software.
  • Support prototyping and testing of new designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reports.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.
