Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a permanent role in Gloucestershire. The position is onsite with flexitime, offering a salary between £50,000 and £60,000 plus a bonus and generous holiday entitlement.

The role reports to the Design Manager and involves supporting the Design, Operations and Proposals teams in a multi-disciplinary environment across minerals, metals, oil & gas, food, power, water, recycling and tunnelling sectors.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent (HNC/HND).
• Experience in a design/engineering environment, preferably with rotating machinery.
• Knowledge of fabrication design and manufacture is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Create proposal drawings to support quotation and costing of equipment.
• Produce detailed GA, manufacturing and IOM drawings using 3D AutoCAD ensuring mechanical integrity.
• Produce Bills of Materials for quotations and supply to customers.
• Coordinate with Operations and Purchasing to interact with subcontractors meeting production requirements.
• Maintain drawing files and ensure compliance with standards and QMS.

Job Role - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Reporting to the Design Manager the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be part key part of a dedicated team and support Design, Operations and Proposals Department.

Duties - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

• Create proposal drawings to support quotation and costing of equipment.
• Produce detailed GA, manufacturing and IOM drawings using 3D AutoCAD ensuring the mechanical integrity and fitness for purpose of our product and system designs
• Produce Bills of Materials to enable correct information for quotations & supply of products to customers.
• Work with our Operations Manager and Purchasing to identify and interact with subcontractors capable of meeting our production requirements
• Drawing File Maintenance
• Ensure full compliance with British and International Standards and our Quality Management System

Experience/Qualifications - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent (HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering)
• Experience within a design and engineering environment preferably related to rotating machinery
• Knowledge of fabrication design and manufacture
