Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

• Job Type: Full–time
• Location: Andover
• Salary: 40,000 to 55,000

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the processing of special designs and manage the quality of projects. This role involves close collaboration with Production, Procurement, and Sales teams. You will be instrumental in generating innovative ideas to enhance product ranges and ensure project success, reporting directly to the Engineering Design Manager.

Day–to–day of the role:

• Ensure quality control of unique specialist mobile equipment designs from conception through to delivery, including bespoke rigid vehicles and trailers.
• Adopt and enhance designs following the company's established design principles.
• Manage individual customer orders throughout the design process, covering all areas such as Structure, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and Electrics.
• Work under tight deadlines and drive projects forward, attending meetings with the Engineering Design Manager and other engineers to ensure project milestones are met and standards are maintained.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Design experience within heavy industry, ideally related to automotive, commercial vehicles, materials handling, trailers, crushing, or screening.
• Strong background in 3D modelling, preferably with Solidworks experience. Some 2D drafting will also be required.
• Knowledge of design considerations for hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Highly motivated with excellent people skills and a passion for innovation.
• Ability to work effectively within a small team and contribute to collaborative projects.
