Job summary

IBM Consulting UK FutureNow seeks a Senior Automation Test Engineer to work with public sector clients, delivering secure, scalable technology solutions. You will specialise in IBM Maximo, test automation, and non-functional testing, shaping strategies and automated frameworks for enterprise asset management systems.

You will perform performance, load, and reliability testing, analyse results, and troubleshoot defects while collaborating with agile delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in software testing, test automation, and non-functional testing within complex enterprise IT environments.
• Strong experience developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Knowledge of IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS), Maximo Manage, and enterprise asset management processes.
• Experience testing Maximo configurations, customisations, automation scripts, workflows, security roles, and business rules.
• Knowledge of Maximo integrations, REST APIs, web services, and the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF).
• Experience testing Maximo upgrades, data migrations, system integrations, and end-to-end business processes.
• Practical experience in performance, load, stress, scalability, and reliability testing using tools such as Apache JMeter or LoadRunner.
• Experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or equivalent frameworks.
• Proficiency in SQL, database validation, test data management, application logs, and defect investigation.
• Ability to analyse test results, identify performance bottlenecks, troubleshoot defects, and collaborate with development, infrastructure, and Maximo technical teams.
• Experience defining test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, and reporting on quality, risks, and testing outcomes.
• Ability to act as a Maximo Test Automation SME, providing technical guidance, supporting testing strategy, and promoting best practices.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working in Agile teams and client-facing delivery environments.
• Experience delivering technology solutions for public sector or regulated clients, with an understanding of security, data protection, and governance requirements.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated testing into DevOps workflows is desirable.
• Active UK Security Check (SC) clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement effective test automation strategies for Maximo-based solutions.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks for functional and non-functional testing.
• Support performance, load, and reliability testing and identify bottlenecks.
• Analyse results, troubleshoot defects, and drive continuous improvement in testing processes.
• Collaborate with clients, developers, and architects to ensure solutions meet requirements and standards.
• Provide guidance as a Maximo Test Automation SME and promote best practices.
