YASA Limited in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior or Lead Materials Engineer to guide material strategy for axial flux motors. This is a hands-on role that requires turning vague requirements into clear, evidence-based recommendations with emphasis on thermal, magnetic and mechanical materials and joining technologies.

You will lead material selection, testing programmes, and collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers, working primarily in a site-based laboratory environment

Formación

• Experience with metallic and non-metallic materials.
• Practical knowledge of joining technologies such as adhesives and welding.
• Ability to turn loosely defined requirements into actionable engineering plans.
• Experience with ISO/ASTM testing standards is desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Lead selection and development of materials, adhesives, joining processes and manufacturing technologies.
• Identify opportunities from new materials and emerging technologies.
• Develop and manage practical materials testing with external test partners.
• Support teardown and examination of failed motors and components.
• Diagnose failure mechanisms and define further testing for root cause.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to qualify material solutions.
