Senior Materials Engineer

Key Responsibilities
  • Support manufacturing teams to ensure suitable processes and components
  • Conduct failure analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Work in a laboratory environment alongside technicians and engineers
  • Perform material and assembly investigations using SEM, EDX, and microscopy
  • Produce clear, detailed technical reports for internal customers
  • Manage and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Advise on material properties, joining methods, and design suitability
Skills and Experience Required
  • Experience in material analysis using light microscopy and SEM/EDX
  • Strong problem‑solving and adaptability skills
  • Knowledge of brazing, welding, and high‑temperature joining techniques
  • Understanding of metallurgy of copper, nickel‑copper alloys, steels, and braze alloys
  • Experience in adhesive selection and properties analysis
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Experience with mechanical and non‑destructive testing
  • Background in vacuum electronic assemblies is desirable
  • Must hold a British Passport
