Job description
About The Group

The world is obsessed by small start‑ups or the largest corporates. Most UK media agencies are built to serve the top 100 spending clients, and there are a multitude of boutique agencies to serve those starting out in business. The Specialist Works is different. We are built exclusively for marketers at entrepreneurial brands. Businesses that are past the messy start‑up stage but are worlds away from the slow‑paced nature of large corporates.

Our clients span large privately owned businesses (often PE backed, founder‑led or both) and small to mid‑cap public enterprises. They are fighting larger, more established competitors and know they need to think and behave differently to win. They don’t conform to category norms. Since they can’t out‑spend their competition, disruption is the safest move they can make.

The marketers leading these brands are innovative, resourceful, moving at pace and in all‑out growth mode. They’re powerful; redefining categories, overtaking and acquiring traditional businesses and changing consumer behaviour along with it.

Our clients share three common yet exciting challenges which define everything we do as an agency:

  • Consumer - customer acquisition is key to their success
  • Company - they are highly ambitious and built lean
  • Category - they are often outspent by their competitors, need to outmanoeuvre the competition and are passionate about disrupting an established category
Purpose of the Role

This is a visionary leadership role focused on building brand fame and driving long‑term growth through bold, distinctive marketing. The Senior Marketing Manager leads the development and execution of a marketing strategy that makes our agencies famous among entrepreneurial marketers, builds memory structures through distinctive brand assets, and converts attention into action.

You’ll be responsible for creative campaign development, content strategy, community engagement, and marketing performance – all in service of measurable growth. This role is ideal for a creative thinker who understands the power of brand and the importance of long‑term marketing investment.

Key Responsibilities
Brand Strategy, Fame and Demand Generation
  • Evolve and execute our already successful marketing strategy that positions our agencies as go‑to partners for entrepreneurial brands.
  • Evolve and embed distinctive brand assets – Sparky, The Specialist View, CMO In The Know – to build memory structures.
  • Drive fame and generate inbound leads through bold use of paid, owned, and earned channels.
Creative Campaigns & Content
  • Lead the creation of high‑impact, multi‑format content with video as a core format in close collaboration with our Junior Content Producer.
  • Develop integrated campaigns that entertain, educate and convert.
  • Ensure content quality, consistency, and alignment with brand positioning.
Community & Thought Leadership
  • Market and help grow membership of the CMO In The Know community to drive advocacy and referrals.
  • Secure speaking opportunities for specialists and clients at industry events.
  • Champion The Specialist View as a thought‑leadership platform in all its forms – newsletter, video across socials, live events.
Marketing Tech & Performance
  • Oversee the marketing tech stack, ensuring tools are integrated and driving the outcomes we’re looking for (includes Pipedrive and La Growth Machine).
  • Use data, experimentation and a measurement framework to track, analyse, optimise and report on brand and performance campaign effectiveness to their respective goals.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Manage and lead our Junior Content Producer to produce high frequency, high quality output across all channels.
  • Collaborate across departments to deliver integrated marketing efforts.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in all marketing activities.
Values & Impact
  • Embed B Corp mission and PICK values in all marketing activity.
  • Ensure marketing supports our commitment to people, planet, and profit.
Requirements
Experience & Skills
  • Formal marketing training (e.g., Ritson Mini MBA or similar).
  • Proven experience in marketing leadership within media, creative, or marketing services.
  • Track record of building brand awareness and reputation.
  • Experience with integrated campaigns and video content.
  • Strong understanding of entrepreneurial brands.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
  • Passion for purpose‑driven business and B Corp values.
Benefits
  • A minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
  • May require some travel to meet with clients or attend industry events on an ad‑hoc basis.
