A leading energy infrastructure firm in Scotland is seeking a Senior Marine Project Manager to lead marine project teams and ensure successful execution of a significant marine cable contract. This hybrid role requires extensive project management experience in the marine environment, strong leadership skills, and a focus on safety and commercial management. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits, including a hybrid vehicle and bonus opportunities.
New Role - Permanent - UK Hybrid Working
The UK has set out its ambition to be net zero by 2050 and the energy industry is responding – together we are building a cleaner, greener Britain.
Joining the Eastern Green Link 3 (EGL 3) delivery team, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the ~580km marine HVDC cable contract between landfalls at Anderby Creek, Lincolnshire to Sandford Bay, Peterhead, including HDD works.
As a Senior Marine Project Manager, you will lead a small team of project managers (3/4) interfacing with internal technical and consenting teams, the principal EPC contractor and its subcontractors and other external stakeholders to ensure the safe delivery of the marine scope of work.
You will be familiar with industry practices and standards, particularly covering the full‑life cycle of marine cable installation; however, relevant experience of other marine projects will also be considered.
This role is hybrid based using any central or project offices or home bases. We continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full‑time and part‑time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.
We encourage all suitable candidates to apply, even if you do not meet every single requirement. At National Grid, we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace for everyone.
Safety – Driving a positive safety culture for project managers and contractors alike. You will ensure clear communication to maintain safe work systems and positive outcomes, promote offshore wellbeing and uphold the ‘Safe to Say‘ policy, encouraging safety concerns to be voiced and fostering an inclusive environment. You will ensure visible and accessible communications are in place throughout the life of a project, such as safety charters and notifications of incidents and lessons learnt.
Commercial – Controlling costs, monitoring the impact of delays, and managing internal implications; you will contribute to project finance processes with internal and joint venture finance teams, ensuring adherence to governance and budget.
Leadership – Supporting and developing the project managers in your team, building relationships and strong networks, actively creating a diverse, inclusive work environment, and enabling project managers to flourish.
Contract Management – Strong knowledge of NEC/FIDIC contracts and experience executing them effectively; experience in risk and change management within the marine environment is also necessary.
Project Engineering – Managing marine engineering processes, including inputs, studies, and marine technical consultant works. You will oversee desktop studies, marine surveys, and post‑survey engineering, review tenders, coordinate expert input, and collaborate with the EPC contractor during the delivery phase to plan and execute marine cable installation.
A competitive starting salary between £66,000 - £90,000 dependent on capability.
A fully electric or hybrid job vehicle for business and personal use.
A bonus of up to 30% of your salary for stretch performance, a contributory pension scheme with a 12% company match, and flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary‑sacrifice car and technology schemes, employee assistance lines, and matched charity giving.
