Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Producibility

£49,400+

What you’ll be doing
  • Supporting the business in understanding how product and process design can meet dimensional requirements while remaining fully producible
  • Evaluating design proposals to minimise manufacturing lead time and reduce cost of non-quality
  • Applying established engineering tools, methods and techniques to future programme development
  • Contributing to the creation and deployment of new tools and capability within the team
  • Supporting Design for Manufacture (DfM) activities to ensure designs are optimised for efficient and reliable production
  • Assisting with New Product Introduction (NPI) activities for a new and emerging programme
  • Working closely with design, manufacturing and quality functions to ensure alignment between design intent and production capability
Your skills and experiences

Essential:

  • Minimum HND in an Engineering discipline and/or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Experience in the engineering and manufacture of mechanical assembly products

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with BAE Systems Air Sector Manufacturing Engineering policies and processes
  • Experience with engineering toolsets (CAD / PLM / SAPCAMS)
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Understanding of digital inspection e.g. CMM (co-ordinate measuring machine), laser tracker

The Manufacturing Engineering Producibility Team

The manufacturing engineering function supports all existing and emerging projects within Air and are responsible for process and toolset development and governance. The Producibility engineering team are responsible for ensuring that design intent can be met in the manufacture of airframe products with optimal efficiency through the application of design for manufacture and dimensional management tools and techniques.
